England is a football frenzy nation. Large number of people in England support football. England is one of the seven nations to have won the football world cup. They achieved this feat in the year 1966 by defeating West Germany in the finals by a score line 4-2, that too in their home soil. But since then, they haven’t fared well in any international tournaments, except a semifinal appearance in FIFA world cup 1990.

But still then, England is always considered as a favorite for any world cup, because of the dearth of talent it possesses. England has totally participated in 12 world cups and won the event only once. In the upcoming FIFA world cup 2010 it is considered to be one of the hot favorites for winning the trophy in South Africa. England has already qualified for 2010 FIFA world cup by putting up an impressive show against some strong teams like Croatia and Ukraine in the qualifiers.

England has all the needed fire power to win the FIFA 2010 world cup. Regarding the squad picked up for the world cup there seems no sign of weakness in all the three departments of attack, defense and midfield. This is mainly due to the presence of some stalwarts like Steven Gerard, Frank Lampard, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney.
